Sadie's fund Sadie, a 1-year-old German Shepherd rescued by PAWS, was suffering from painful hip dysplasia which eventually would have left her unable to walk. PAWS' Emergency Medical Fund did not have enough money available to pay for two hip replacements, so PAWS put out a plea for donations. Thanks to the kindness and generosity of hundreds of central Pennsylvanians, PAWS received over $14,000 to help cover her surgeries, far above the cost, enabling Sadie to receive two new hips. "We have been overwhelmed by the quick response, and the compassion and support so many people have shown toward Sadie and the PAWS organization overall," said PAWS President Christine Arnold. "Just a few weeks ago we thought we would have to deplete our Emergency Medical Fund for Sadie, leaving little or no money for the many other animals in our care. Now, we have enough to not only nurse Sadie back to health but also to help other dogs and cats with costly medical needs." PAWS' Emergency Medical Fund has been renamed Sadie’s Fund in her honor. You can make a donation to help others like Sadie receive lifesaving care. You can donate online or mail to PAWS at P.O. Box 855, Camp Hill, PA 17001. |
