PAWS (Preservation of Animal Welfare and Safety, Inc.) has started a Humane Education Committee.

The Humane Education committee’s mission is to reduce the amount of homeless animals via spay/neuter and education.

We are giving presentations to children and adults. Presentations are on the following subjects.

  • We have started an Adopt a Classroom Program. Designated classrooms will receive 32 issues of KIND News each month. September through May, in one of three editions: Primary (grades K-2), Junior (grades 3-4), or Senior (grades 5-6). A teacher’s guide with each issue. KIND Teacher, an annual resource book of reproducible worksheets, KIND ID cards for students, a classroom poster, and a calendar of fun facts and tips on helping animals and the environment. To sponsor a classroom please send $30.00 to PAWS Humane Education, P.O. Box 855, Camp Hill, PA 17001. We will be starting in January 2006 to solicit sponsors for the school year 2006/2007. Any monies for Adopt a Classroom sent in to PAWS Humane Education at this time will be held for the school year 2006/2007.
  • Cats/Dogs-Proper care, body language, preventing cat/dog bites and what to do if bitten. And proper grooming.
  • Basic pet care and respect. This is for the very young children.
  • Spaying and Neutering dogs and cats.
  • How to identify our Dog.
  • Teach Your Dog Good Manners. Why you should and what it means for your dog.
  • Special Needs Animals. Why they make good pets, what it means to have one.
  • Future Planning for Your Pet. Planning for your pet’s future care and well-being.
    • What will happen to your pet if you die?
    • What will happen to your pet if you can no longer care for it?

All programs are available for both small and large groups. If you have a subject not listed please let us know. We may have live dogs and/or cats at some of these presentations.
