2006 Art for Animals Auction

A great night for the animals! Art for Animals 2006 brought animal lovers from throughout the area to the Harrisburg Hilton and Towers on May 13 to raise funds for PAWS future facility. Sleight of hand magician Pepka stretched our minds and WHP21 News Anchor Tom Donovan and volunteer auctioneer John E. Anderson Jr. of Newville stretched our pocketbooks, while PAWS foster kittens Addison and Ally demonstrated their artist abilities painting their own PAWPrints of Hope.

PAWPrints of Hope painted by PAWS foster cats AJ, Robbie, and others took center stage – virtually all received well over their value in bids from the crowd. At the night’s end, PAWS received almost every penny of the total value of the 60 pieces of art auctioned! The Silent Auction table overflowed with more than 40 wonderful baskets, gift certificates, appliances, and other items – generating serious competition in some cases that raised the bids well beyond the value of the items! Volunteers Pat Scheib, Melissa Hvalachek, and Jessica Shaak kept the action going at the Chinese Auction, selling almost $500 in raffle tickets in a few hours for the table’s 34 items.

Live auction emcee Tom Donovan warmed up the crowd by warming up their bidding arms as the live auction got underway.

 

A reminder of why we hold our auction every year – and why PAWS volunteers do all they can to help the homeless ones.

The ballroom bustled with activity in front and back as the live auction, Chinese Auction, and Silent Auction raised funds for the future facility.
